Production Monitering Blog (15/3/11)

Progress

Last week, I worked independently in college and at home on my Unit 3 work, which I completed. I have now finished my mood board, schedule, treatment, two social advert idea outlines, documentary outline and location recce. As well as this, I visited my shooting location, speaking with my actor of shot ideas and how the shoot will pan out.

Day 1

I visited Alex's house, which will be the location of the shoot, in order to assess the shooting space in terms of health and safety and possible problems. I also took photographs of the kitchen to go in my location recce.

Day 2

I completed my location recce, writing about how suitable the location is in terms of shooting as well as health and safety concerns and potential problems. As well as this, I added the photos I took at Alex's house to the recce.

Day 3

I went over my already completed work, adding anything I thought would improve my grade and making sure my work was of a quality I thought was acceptable.
Day 4

On day four, I was ahead of schedule so I decided to move onto the targets for the following week and booked my equipment in advance, ensuring that my shoot would go ahead as planned.

Targets

My initial targets were to book my equipment, rehearse with my actor, film my social advert and transfer my footage to a college Apple Mac. Though, I was ahead of schedule last week and I booked my camera in advance. This has given me more free time and I hope to possibly start editing next week.

Contingencies

The only problems I can foresee are to do with my actor or technical problems. If Alex becomes unavailable to film at a suitable time, that will probably delay the production process as I will most likely have to reschedule my shoot. This will involve booking equipment on another day, which creates another possible problem of the equipment being unavailable. In terms of technical problems, the camera could stop working properly during the shoot. If this happens, I will have no choice but to reschedule the shoot, as I don't know how to fix a camera. Also, when transferring the footage to a college computer, the files could corrupt or be lost. If this happens, production will be delayed as I will have to find another day when my actor is available to shoot the whole advert again. This is a lot to ask of someone that isn't receiving anything for his help, so I am hoping this isn't the case when it comes to shooting next week.

Production Monitering Blog (8/3/11)

Progress

Last week, I worked independently in college and at home on my Unit 3 pre-production work. This includes my mood board, schedule, documentary idea outline, two social advert idea outlines, treatment, location recce, script and storyboard.

So far, I have completed my mood board, schedule, documentary idea outline, two social advert idea outlines, treatment, script and storyboard. I still have to complete my location recce. Some of the work was completed prior to last week but most was completed in the week.

Day 1

I completed my moving image treatment.

Day 2

I wrote the script for my social advert.

Day 3

I drew up the storyboard to my social advert.

Day 4

I met with my actor, Alex, to discuss the shooting schedule and choose an appropriate time to film.

There weren't really any set backs or complications this week, other than the fact that I had planned to have my treatment completed the week before. Though, I had free time this week to get it completed.

Targets

This week I must visit my potential shooting location and create a location recce for it, assemble any props and costumes I will need for my advert and create a contingency plan.

I will have to be organized in order to make the visit to my potential shooting locations and I will also need technical skills in terms of photography in order to gather photographs for my location recce.

Contingencies

The only real problem I can think of is if Alex is not available at a suitable time for me to visit the shooting location. If this is the case, I will have to reschedule the location visit, meaning the location recce will have to be postponed. If this is the case, these activities will be fit into the following week's schedule.
